Business and technology magazine Biztech, published by CDW, talked to HiHR Chief Systems Officer Fred Li about 'Bring Your Own Devices' programs and the success Hawaii Human Resources has had implementing a BYOD program.
“Employees at Hawaii Human Resources (HiHR) — which provides Hawaii businesses with payroll processing, benefits and insurance administration, and HR support — have the option to connect just about any personal device to the company’s network.
“‘We really don’t place any limits on what people can bring in," says Fred B. Li, the company’s chief systems officer. ‘Our infrastructure’s totally cloud-based, so every one works within the Citrix environment.’ Employees are welcome to use any device as long as it can connect to the Citrix server.
“Internet access is through HiHR’s serv ice provider, which also hosts its Citrix environment. ‘They have services that we purchase from them [including] firewalls, filters and web filtering,’ Li says. Company equipment and employee-owned notebooks must have current virus protection before they’re allowed to connect to the network. An acceptable-use policy ensures that ‘nothing is actually stored on the person’s personal computer,’ he says.”

Hawaii Human Resources has just made the Hawaii Business Top 250, an annual list of Hawaii’s top companies, based on 2010 gross annual sales. We came in at #201 after less than two full years in business and #3 in the biggest revenue gains. On Thursday, July 21, 2011, members of The Hawaii Group of and Hawaii Human Resources are honored to be volunteering at KHON2 headquarters for the annual Lōkahi Back-to-School Telethon. Every dollar raised will go toward purchasing school supplies for Hawaii’s keiki in need.

HiHR CEO Matthew Delaney has been named one of four experts on the panel of Pacific Business News’ Human Resources Summit, a two-hour summit with a full hour of Q&A at The Plaza Club on Friday, March 25, 2011.
Matthew Delaney formed various Human Resource and Employment service-related companies in January 2009. In just less than 2 years, The Hawaii Group has become the 3rd-largest outsourcing business in the State of Hawaii. With over 140 clients and 1,800 employees under administration, Delaney has proven that transparency pays dividends during tough economic times. Delaney is responsible for overseeing all of the companies and the executive management team responsible for managing each of the various companies and lines of service.
The Hawaii Group, Hawaii Human Resources, and President and CEO Matthew Delaney were featured in Hawaii Business magazine in November 2010. The feature focuses on the company’s formula for success in a down economy.
Hawaii Human Resources, or HiHR, has been growing steadily since its start in early 2009. A provider of human resource needs ranging from payroll to health benefits, HiHR recently tallied 118 clients on all major islands, representing more than 1,300 employees.
“Our business is growing rapidly because we enable companies to save money and stay in business,” says CEO Matthew Delaney, a CPA by training, with extensive experience in the hotel/resort business. “If we can do it cheaper and more efficiently … if we can take care of their back-office needs, they can focus on their core mission,” Delaney says.
